Urgent Patient Notice – COVID Vaccines

Dear Patients,

Given the scale needed for the Covid-19 vaccination programme all local GP surgeries will be using a range of ways to contact patients to book their appointment. This includes phone call and text message. You will never be asked for anything other than a few personal details to confirm your identification and you will certainly never be asked for anything financial.

This is being done strictly in accordance with Government guidelines, which can be found through the link below:

Further information from Arundel Surgery about vaccines can be found here: https://arundelsurgery.co.uk/

Daily update 20/01/2021:

1). Arundel patients are currently being vaccinated at the Bognor Hub.

2). All organisation of the vaccinations is being done by IPC (an organisation that performs a lot of “back-office” logistics for the NHS in Sussex).

3). IPC is working through their very long list of patients as per government dictated priority – this is going to take some time so please don’t worry if you haven’t been called yet – you won’t be forgotten.

4). IPC will be contacting people by test/phone as per previous post.

5). Supply of vaccines to the Regis locility (of which Arundel is part) is lagging behind some neighbouring areas which explains why some patients nearby were vaccinated earlier or have got further through their lists and are now vaccinating people in lower risk groups. Vaccine supply is not organised at a local level we can only take what we are given.

6). Local organisations are very kindly helping to organise transport for Arundel patients who need it – see previous posts.

7). In answer to numerous questions about whether family can be contacted about organising Covid vaccinations for elderly relatives, this should be possible. However, due to laws regarding patient confidentiality it is important that we have a signed letter of consent from the patient to confirm that their care can be discussed with the relative. Whilst bureaucracy is the scourge of the NHS we are sure you can appreciate the reasons for this. Such letters and alternative contact details can be emailed to us at the usual admin.arundel@nhs.net address if needed (or dropped in our letterbox, or sent in the post for those not on the internet).
