Dear Artists,

Thank you all for responding to the short timeline for Registrations this year and sorry to those makers and artists who were unable to find a venue. It’s been harder than ever and very frustrating for many.

Registrations are now closed and we are very pleased to report that the Gallery Trail 2021 has 53 Registrations spanning 23 venues. The venues comprise of:

7 private homes

4 public buildings/Churches

12 retail spaces/commercial galleries

By comparison AGT 2019 had 101 Registrations and a Trail comprising 57 venues. But although this year’s Trail is smaller it has every chance of delivering a creative impact of interesting and diverse work.

AGT Sculpture Trail

As a new initiative this year we are including a small Sculpture Trail.  This includes a ‘Zoo Trail’ with large wooden animals created by chain-saw artist Simon Groves, together with additional pieces at the Sussex Sculpture Society’s venue at St Nicholas Church.   Mark and Rebecca Ford will also be installing a willow sculpture on the Priory wall at the top of the High Street.  We are looking forward to seeing what they create this year.

Secret Artist at the Victoria Institute

The Victoria Institute will once again be Venue #1 for a number of artists and installations and will also host the Secret Artist Exhibition & Auction. We’ve received 24 completed boards – so just a gentle reminder to others that we would like to receive your finished piece as soon as possible please. Thank you.

Trail Guide & Marketing

We have articles published in the summer edition of The Bell magazine and also in Sussex Life. Andy Waite will be designing a full Trail Guide and and should you wish a specific image to be used please send this with a file size of at least 1MB. Images with smaller file sizes may not print clearly!   Andy will help answer any questions you may have – andy@andywaite.net

We will soon make a start on updating the website & posting on social media. Given the shorter timeline we ask for your help in promoting this years event on your own social media.

Going forward …

For Marty & Penny our 3-year tenure since the AGT in 2019 has certainly been unusual and somewhat challenging. We now need to step back after this Trail finishes in August.  Andy is able to offer any design help that is needed for next year. We hope that others will step forward to organise the Gallery Trail 2022! Please do let us know if you are interested as we will certainly be happy to answer any questions you may have.

We’ll be in touch again in July to update you with the latest news and to try and organise an open air get together of Artists if rules allow!

Thank you for all your support,

Penny , Marty and Andy
