In a nutshell, the ‘Arundel is Christmas’ Campaign is the brainchild of Akin and the Chamber, where Arundel by Candlelight is transformed into a programme of different events, activities and marketing opportunities to promote Arundel as a Christmas destination. As a team, they evaluated how ABC could be stretched over a longer period to offer greater support in footfall, spend and revenue. The Campaign is underpinned by a series of three ‘Arundel is….’ films launched on Visit Arundel, shared and promoted across the various tourism bodies, websites, social media and local press and linked to a variety of other Campaigns. More information to follow …

There is a greater need now more than ever to provide activities that maintain Covid safety regulations and guidelines, are not financially onerous, require minimal resources and do not encourage too intense a footfall or disrupt the town for residents. Our aim is to provide safe ‘events’ and films that are spread over time, generate media interest and where the value of video is established.

Earlier this year, the Chamber set up a brainstorming session with Akin, where they considered the programme of four themed weekends across November and December for 2021 under the banner ‘Arundel is Christmas’, covering Arts, History and Culture:

Feast – Eat, Drink and be Merry,
Create – Arts and Community,
Remember – History and Heritage,
ABC – Light up the town.

For 2020, they have had to reduce the programme down into what can be realistically achieved and continue to re-assess in order to complement latest situations in support of Arundel town. Details of the programme will be shared over the coming weeks, so watch this space!

Arundel businesses, and organisations are being encouraged to support the Campaign by way of sharing with the Chamber any ideas, (virtual) ’events’ and activities promoting Christmas that can be included in the programme or by simply tagging ‘Arundel is Christmas’ when they know their plans. Whatever you would like included, please comment or message us through this Facebook page or email Arundelischristmas@gmail.com
