Wrap up warm and head outdoors to enjoy some of Arundel’s stunning scenery. From riverside paths to rolling Downland views, there are plenty of beautiful walks and places to explore, right on our doorstep.

Here are five local walks, in and around Arundel, that promise fresh air, peaceful moments and something to smile about to get through the winter season.

1. Arundel Park

At this time of year, Arundel Park is quite special. Walk through the Park and you’ll see the dramatic views and stark bare trees across the South Downs. The Park’s 1,200 acres of open parkland is adjacent to Arundel Castle, so you can plan your walk to be as long or short as you want it to be.

2. Swanbourne Lake

Just down from Arundel Park is the beautiful Swanbourne Lake. It’s a leisurely 25-minute walk around the Lake, so if you’ve got a spare hour in your day, it’s the perfect place for a fresh air fix. There’s also a café if a warm drink is needed.

3. Angmering Park Estate

A walk in the woods is always beneficial, the chance to get close to trees and explore. Angmering Park Estate is especially beautiful at this time of year and only a 10-minute drive from Arundel. And if you arrive early enough in the morning, you might spot a deer or two.

4. Binsted Woods

If you fancy a walk in the woods but don’t want to drive, Binsted Woods is the answer. Just off Tortington Lane, the woods are slightly hidden away but right on the doorstep if you’re local to Arundel.

5. River Arun

Finally, a river walk along the River Arun to end with. Start off by joining the path just by Mill Road car park and follow the river all the way to the Black Rabbit pub where a warming pint and a cracking log fire will be waiting.
