Historic Arundel Guided Walk with local historian and author Chris Hare

Arundel Museum is looking forward to further collaboration with local historian and author Chris Hare following his involvement in the Civil War project earlier this year.

This included an exhibition of Civil War in Arundel, Sussex, talks and a concert. Chris will now be hosting two evening events in August.

On 13 August he will be leading an evening walk around Arundel’s ancient streets and byways,
taking a step back into the towns’ eventful history from the Normans to the present day, taking in medieval lords, civil war battles, and the great rebuild of Victorian times.

The following evening, Chris will present a talk at the Museum exploring the murkier side of life in Georgian Arundel, including its notoriously corrupt elections, both to parliament and the town council. Amongst other fascinating details, this will include the rivalry between the Dukes of Norfolk and the Shelleys of Michelgrove.
