There will be a short talk from Chris then a chance to buy the book.
This is no ordinary history book, but rather an
exploration into a Sussex often overlooked by
more formal histories. Here you will read about
witchcraft, Bonfire Night celebrations, and the
riotous proceedings of the Skeleton Army. You
will learn about the extraordinary contribution
that Sussex people have made to the cultural life
of their county, such as Lucy Broadwood, the folk
song collector, and Hilaire Belloc, the renowned author and poet,
whose book ‘The Four Men’ forever immortalises the county and
its history. There are also chapters on Victorian school days, Sussex
dialect, and many other fascinating topics.
