Arundel becomes a Craft Town 20-28th June

We’re thrilled to share that Arundel has been selected to be a Craft Town as part of Sussex Craft Week, a countrywide celebration of contemporary craft.

Led by ROSA (Review of Sussex Arts), Sussex Craft Week is a multi-site festival taking place across Sussex from 20th – 28th June. Showcasing contemporary craft through exhibitions (six venues in the town), open studios, talks and workshops.  

As one of two designated Craft Twins for Sussex Craft Week, the other is Alfriston in East Sussex, Arundel will present a town wide programme that brings craft into daily life. Working in Partnership with Arundel Town Council, Arund District Council, ROSA, local galleries and independent businesses have developed a programme that makes craft visible, accessible and for one week only, central to the experience of the town.

Throughout the week, contemporary craft exhibitions will take place across six venues in the town, alongside the Arundel Craft Window Trail, which sees work by Sussex makes displayed in shop windows and businesses across the town. 

Visitors will be encouraged to explore Arundel on foot using the dedicated map, discovering craft while supporting the local independent shops, cafes and galleries.

“Arundel, alongside Alfriston, has been selected as a Craft Town in recognition of the strong way craft, community, locality and heritage come together. Craft Towns offer the opportunity to see exceptional work by Sussex makers outside of international fairs and major institutions, and play a vital role in supporting individual makers and heritage skills.”
