Looking for something magical to round off the summer holidays? Head down to WWT Arundel Wetland Centre on Saturday 30 August, where the Dragonfly Festival is in full swing — and the incredible Dragonfly Stilt Walkers will once again be delighting visitors!

This family-friendly festival offers a dazzling line-up of dragonfly-themed activities designed to inspire wonder and connection with wetland wildlife. From pond dipping and summer crafts to dragonfly boat safaris and larger-than-life stilt walkers, there’s something for every age and interest.

What to Expect

Over on WWT Arundel’s 62-acre site, long summer days are filled with adventure and discovery:

  • Pond dipping to uncover mini-beasts of the wetlands
  • Adventure play areas for little explorers
  • Dragonfly spotter cards and giant outdoor games
  • Creative workshops and macro photography sessions for budding artists
  • A chance to simply wander, relax, and soak in the beauty of nature

And of course, the highlight of the day — the Dragonfly Stilt Walkers — a spectacular sight that brings the magic of wetlands to life.

Why Now Is the Perfect Time

Summer is prime dragonfly season, with these dazzling creatures thriving across wetlands. Whether you’re a keen naturalist or just curious to learn more, this is the ideal moment to get up close and inspired.

Elizabeth Pearce, Learning Manager at WWT Arundel, says:

“There’s lots to do at our Dragonfly Festival this summer. Whether you want to spend quality time with your family or gather friends for a great day out, there’s plenty to take part in, learn from, and explore, all while making precious memories in a beautiful wetland setting. Dragonflies are amazing little creatures, but don’t just take our word for it — come and see for yourselves.”
